Sorry it’s been a while since I posted anything. Well we are nearly there - as we have the keys to our Eastleigh location. We are on Otterbourne Hill, just inside the Bright Horizons nursery (SO21 2HJ). It’s been a busy time for Eastleigh! We have been given a lot of furniture and essential kitchen stuff from some very lovely people to enable us to be ready to open. There is even a snuggly fleece and cushions for those that require a little time on their own in our quiet room. Not only are we having a quiet room but we will have a project room for those that wish to have an ongoing project, they will be able to leave it and return to working on it next time they are in. We will have a chill out area with a lovely view over the garden, ideal place for our tea breaks and lunch in the not so good weather, as well as our main activities room and we must not forget the kitchen area where we can cook some amazing recipes for those budding chefs that join……I’m loving the sound of this already! Here's an artists impression of the garden as there is a bit of work to do to get it ready! The garden is being worked on at the moment.… so any members with green fingers will be
able to tend the vegetable patches or those that enjoy kicking a football around will have plenty of space to do so. They are hard at work finishing off the ramps for those members in wheelchairs to have access to all the amazing spaces. We are nearly ready to welcome our lovely new members, if you know anyone who might be interested in joining us please contact us via jenny@jp-adultdaycare.com Another update soon.... Well, every day is different!! We aim to plan all our activities around what our members might like to do, we work as a team to come up with ideas and then plan for the month ahead so that we have all the resources we will need and love to hear what the members would like to do. Recently at Hook they did a lot of activities around Italy - inspired by Ezri's holiday to Italy!! Whilst we have a structured day which is broken down into a set timetable, but how the activities run changes every day. We love to go walking, getting those steps in and being in fresh air is great for everyone! Often we all go out together which is a good time to have a chat and find out more about each other. We are so lucky to have amazing walks on our doorstep at Hook and Eastleigh and we love to get out and about every single day! With all of our activities we try and learn with what we are doing, but always in a fun way.
We try to laugh a lot and enjoy ourselves too!! Here's some pictures of the fabulous day at Hook's Italian experience! Welcome to James Place Eastleigh. I am Debbie the Team Leader at Eastleigh and I am so excited to have the opportunity to work in our latest service. We are still working to make sure it's perfect for our members to join, well Rome wasn't built in a day! Bit of a background on me (yes I know it's not all about me), I have a background in retail Management for many years and made a career change when I met my husband. I have worked in supported living for 3 years and joined James Place in July 2021. I have been helping out in their other locations to understand their ethos. I'm going to miss working with those lovely members but excited to meet our new ones. I've also been interviewing amazing people who will be joining us in making sure our members have a fantastic time at James Place.
Look out for my next blog where I will tell you more about our unit and surroundings! We asked Nikki, one of our lovely members at The Barn, Hook, to give us some thoughts on paper about her time with us at James' Place! I've been coming to jp for over a year now and I must say I've made some really good friends and grown in confidence. Although it's structured its also adaptable to the member. I primarily do arts and crafts with a bit of cooking...and a chat, there's always some one to chat to! Although the members have varying abilities there is always something for everyone.i attend with my assistance dog Bella, who loves it and the other members love taking her for a walk on the grounds.
