After a long 5-month lockdown, we were finally allowed to open our door on the 18th August 2020.
It was a momentous day and long awaited. Unfortunately, it was not a day that we originally planned, but more a subdued, social distanced, PPE wearing kind of day.
As you may have seen, in our previous social media posts, our location is a dream. Set in idyllic country grounds, free from disturbance and full of tranquillity.
Our first day was a great success and since that day 14 weeks ago, we now have attending members every week, a huge backlog of viewings booked in and 4 members of the team!
Every week we are growing more, into the vision we have here for James’ Place Adult Daycare Hook.
When looking and recruiting for staff, we believe that the right person, (through past experience, myself included) will come to us. That they will have a way about them, that understands the importance and ethos of James’ Place. We have a great team in place now at Hook and below is a little about them all……
So who are the team now... well first up and in the key role at The Barn is JoJo our Team Leader - and let us tell you, she is a joy. Jo has a truly fun, enthusiastic and happy aura about her, and her energy has brought The Barn to life. JoJo is your first point of call when attending James’ Place, here at Hook, she is extremely well established within the industry and understands all abilities within the world of disabilities.
Supporting Jo are Tracey and Danielle who are our fabulous Group Leaders.
Tracey has vast experience, with a presence that is calming and empathetic. Tracey helps to plan and run sessions, that members would like, she loves the outdoors, is extremely sporty and a dab hand in the kitchen.
Danielle who we call Dani for short, as not to get confused with Danielle R, also helps to run and plan some fab sessions. Dani has first-hand experience within the industry and is an enthusiastic, creative member of our team with lots of passion and ideas!
Finally, we have Claire who is our volunteer.
Claire is extremely hard working, caring, approachable member of our team.
Volunteers are a core importance to James’s Place. All our volunteers, kindness and support does not go unnoticed, in enabling James’ Place to grow. James’ Place really would not be able to grow and succeed, without our volunteers. They are all truly amazing humans!
So, there you have it, our team here so far at James’s Place Hook.
Going forward we WILL continue to grow and add to our team and during this time I will eagerly await your knock at the door! Pending Government guidance we will be open for regular sessions from Monday 7th December 2020
